FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation) or STRIP method and the technique of hair transplantation called FUE(extraction of follicular units) which is the most modern. The FUT technique is used first in the early 1990s and is performed at the back of the donor region of the scalp. The piliferous part of the skin, which is cut, is subjected to specific treatment under a microscope and is separated from the transplants and then inserted into the calvary region.
Transplants produced, depending on the technical training and experience of the medical group that performs the FUT session, can be mini grafts (consisting of 4-8 hairs) or micrografts (consisting of 1-3 hairs). The skin defect produced in the donor region is stuck, leaving a permanent scar, having a small or large diameter, according to the suture technique and the extent of the defect, while the formation of post-operative malformed scars by stip, which needs cosmetic repair, is very common.
The most modern technique of suture called trichophytic closure technique seems to be more effective at the postoperative scar. The production of transplants with a larger diameter and more hair, which do not appear to normal hair follicles of the scalp, often leads to abnormal aesthetic results because of the FUT or strip technique, especially in cases where very hairy follicles are implanted at the frontal capillary line.
